System Of A Down and Deftones are teaming up for a special show on August 17 at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, CA. This unique event will also feature The Mars Volta, Viagra Boys, and VOWWS, promising an unforgettable experience. Tickets for the show go on sale this Friday, April 12, with email signups available for updates.
While System Of A Down’s recent activities suggest new material might not be on the horizon, Deftones fans have reason to be excited. The band has been working on a new album since 2023 and aims to release it this year.
In an interview last year, Deftones guitarist Stephen Carpenter shared insights into their creative process: “We started working on new material in February. It’s progressing well, albeit a bit slowly at first, which is typical for us. Our goal is to have it finished and released by next spring or summer.”
Carpenter also mentioned their collaboration with producer Nick Raskulinecz, known for his work with bands like Rush and Mastodon. Raskulinecz’s input has been invaluable in shaping their ideas into cohesive tracks.
The upcoming album will be the first without bassist Sergio Vega, who left the band in 2021. Fred Sablan has been performing with Deftones live, although they haven’t announced an official replacement for Vega yet.
