W. H. Lung Announce New Album “Every Inch of Earth Pulsates” and Release Single “How To Walk”
The Manchester band W. H. Lung has returned with a new single, “How To Walk,” in preparation for their new album, Every Inch of Earth Pulsates. This album marks their first studio LP since 2021’s Vanities and showcases their collaboration with esteemed producer Ross Orton.
Collaboration with Producer Ross Orton
W. H. Lung is thrilled to work with Ross Orton, known for his productions with Arctic Monkeys, MIA, and Working Men’s Club. Vocalist Joseph Evans describes Orton as the “Steve Albini of Sheffield.” The band moved to Sheffield before recording Every Inch of Earth Pulsates, partly due to the city’s rich musical history and Orton’s influence. “He’s the king of not overthinking it and trusting the process of the art of recording songs,” Evans explains. Orton’s approach helped the band focus and streamline their creative process.
Guitarist Tom Sharkett praises Orton’s impact on their new synth-pop sound: “He was the exact producer we needed without us even realizing. His productions and mixes are bombastic, lively, and in your face. He brought a real dose of magic to the songs we’d written.”
Album Overview
Following the successes of 2019’s Incidental Music and 2021’s Vanities, Every Inch of Earth Pulsates combines calculated anthems, danceable rhythms, and colorful optimism. Orton’s meticulous production allows each song to shine whether you’re on the dancefloor or relaxing at home. Sharkett highlights the album’s directness: “The big difference with this record is its directness in every sense.”
Lead Single: “How To Walk”
The lead single, “How To Walk,” epitomizes the album’s dance, indie, and pop influences. Vocalist Joseph Evans is eager to perform it live: “We wanted a song to represent our live set, a new big one, and this is it.”
Release Date and Tour Information
Every Inch of Earth Pulsates is set to be released on October 18th via Melodic. In support of the album, W. H. Lung will embark on a UK tour throughout November. The tour kicks off on November 16th at Manchester’s New Century Hall and concludes on November 24th at the Hare & Hounds in Birmingham. Evans emphasizes the importance of live performances: “The reason I’m in a band is to play live music. For me, music is live music. That’s what it’s for, to be played with people.”
