After Garbage canceled their remaining 2024 tour dates, singer Shirley Manson has provided details about her health issues that led to this decision. Following the conclusion of Garbage’s European tour, which featured a major show at Wembley Arena in London, the band announced the cancellation of their scheduled performances in Mexico City, California, and Washington DC.

Shirley Manson’s Health Issues Explained

The initial announcement cited an injury sustained by Manson but did not provide specifics. However, a week later, Manson took to social media to reveal that the cancellation was due to laryngitis, which thankfully was not as severe as she initially feared. She shared, “I returned home from tour an absolute hot mess. So broken that my poor husband had to push me through Heathrow and LAX airports in a wheelchair. I also had a dose of laryngitis and a massive cold sore on my lip.”

Manson further disclosed that she had a scare about potentially damaging her vocal cords. “I was freaking out that I had somehow managed to damage my vocal cords on top of everything else but yesterday I was scoped and everything is as it should be,” she reassured fans.

Garbage’s Future Plans and Shirley Manson’s Reflection on Time

Currently, Garbage has no shows scheduled, and the canceled concerts have not been rescheduled. However, the band has promised to return to the road in 2025. Their most recent album, “No Gods No Masters,” was released in 2021, and the band has been working on new music in the studio earlier this year.

In a recent BBC interview, Shirley Manson hinted at a possible retirement for the group in the coming years. She expressed, “Life is so precious. The older I get, the more I enjoy life. I understand time is running out on me, and it has allowed me to enjoy a sense of urgency, to harness it and put into my work. I don’t know how much longer we can go on and do this.”

Manson, who is turning 58 soon, added, “I’m the youngest member of the band, and I’m turning 58 in a couple of weeks. So we are just enjoying every moment right now.”

Fans can take comfort in knowing that despite the temporary setback, Shirley Manson is on the mend, and Garbage plans to make a strong comeback in 2025, continuing to create and perform the music that has defined their career.
