In a heartfelt interview with Mail Online, Andy Taylor of Duran Duran shared his journey with cancer and his efforts to contribute to the Cancer Awareness Trust. A highlight of these efforts was a unique charity event where Robert Plant performed Led Zeppelin’s iconic ‘Stairway To Heaven,’ a song he vowed never to sing again. Reflecting on this special performance, Taylor shared:

“Robert had made it clear that he wouldn’t perform the song again before our event. He felt disconnected from lyrics written in his youth, yet he agreed to sing for our cause. His willingness to perform was truly touching, and despite my struggles to play guitar due to a recent injury, the experience was unforgettable. Robert’s participation was a testament to his kind nature.”

The performance took place at a prostate cancer awareness event at Soho Farmhouse in the Cotswolds, orchestrated by Andy Taylor. This rare rendition of ‘Stairway To Heaven’ by Plant was particularly poignant, given it had been years since he last performed it live. The concert aimed to raise both funds and awareness for prostate cancer, a cause deeply personal to Taylor, who was diagnosed with stage four prostate cancer in 2018. Taylor’s advocacy highlights the critical role of early detection in combatting the disease.
