MÖTLEY CRÜE On New Single ‘Canceled’: ‘It’s Got A Real Kind Of AEROSMITH Swagger To It’

Nikki Sixx, Tommy Lee, John 5, and Vince Neil from MÖTLEY CRÜE recently sat down with Eddie Trunk on SiriusXM’s Trunk Nation. They discussed their plans for a new album, their creative collaboration over the past five years, and their work on new tracks like “Dogs Of War” and others.

Tommy Lee mentioned their excitement about making new music with John in the band, bringing in fresh energy. They don’t plan too far ahead; they just feel inspired to create when the moment strikes.

Sixx added that being in a long-standing band gives them artistic freedom to share ideas anytime. They focus on living in the present and creating spontaneously. For example, the song “Canceled” came about after Sixx reacted to an article about cancel culture while on tour. The band quickly put together the song, inspired by themes like resilience and not letting negativity bring you down.

About a year ago, they worked with producer Bob Rock on three new tracks, including “Dogs Of War” and a cover of the BEASTIE BOYS’ “(You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party!).”
