DOJ Official Warns Jasmine Crockett Could Face Charges After Alleged Attack on Conservative

Representative Jasmine Crockett is facing allegations of assault after an incident with a conservative journalist. The reporter claims Crockett attacked him when he asked about her comments on Elon Musk. Following this, U.S. Attorney Edward R. Martin, Jr. confirmed that his office is looking into the matter.

To provide some context, Elon Musk, since becoming head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), has faced harsh criticism, particularly from the far left. DOGE was created by one of Trump’s executive orders with the goal of eliminating government waste and fraud.

On March 27, 2025, the journalist posted a video on X about the alleged incident, where he explained, “I’ve just met with U.S. Capitol Police regarding the attack by Representative Crockett. The officers were kind and helpful during our meeting. Now, the decision to press charges lies with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia.” He added that this situation wasn’t just personal but also about preserving free speech in the Capitol, which, if compromised, could affect the entire country.

In the video, the journalist also provided more details, saying that Crockett reached for his phone, causing a scratch while he asked about her role in a Tesla-related issue. He stated that the complaint was officially handed over to the U.S. Attorney’s office for further investigation.

Ending the video, the journalist emhasized the importance of free speech, stating, “This is about more than just me and Rep. Crockett; it’s about ensuring that free speech remains protected in Capitol Hill. If it’s undermined here, it could happen everywhere in the country.”

U.S. Attorney Edward R. Martin, Jr. responded by sharing a meme and reiterating that no one is above the law. He noted, “This is under investigation, and if it reaches the U.S. Attorney’s Office, we will follow the appropriate steps to determine whether charges should be filed.”

In the comments on Martin’s post, some conservatives voiced their frustrations, calling for accountability. One comment read, “Jasmine knows what she did, and she’s testing the waters, thinking there won’t be consequences. But as public officials, members of Congress should be held to a higher standard, and their actions should have consequences.”
