Grammy Award-winning artist Leon Bridges has officially announced his highly anticipated new album, Leon, along with the release of its vibrant lead single, ‘Peaceful Place’.
It’s been three years since Bridges graced us with a full-length album, but Leon is a project he reveals has been in the making for a lifetime—albeit often unconsciously. This deeply personal collection of tracks will be released on October 4th via Columbia Records.
Accompanying the release of ‘Peaceful Place’ is a stunning music video filmed on the outskirts of Mexico City, where the album truly came to life. Recorded at El Desierto studios, the album was crafted with the help of producers Ian Fitchuk and Daniel Tashian, known for their work with Kacey Musgraves.
From the first note, ‘Peaceful Place’ whisks listeners away to a sun-soaked beach, where a mojito in hand and the soothing sound of waves make the world’s worries melt away. For four blissful minutes, Bridges’ soulful vocals envelop you, offering a brief escape into serenity.
Reflecting on the album in a statement, Bridges shared that the concept for Leon had been floating around even before his 2021 album, Gold-Diggers Sound. “This album has been a long time coming,” he said. “I started writing parts of it as far back as Gold-Diggers Sound. Those songs didn’t fit that album’s vibe, but I couldn’t let them go. They’re a part of me, and if I’m honest, I believe this is some of my best work yet.”
Emphasizing the personal nature of the record, Bridges added, “In many ways, Leon has been in the works since my childhood. This album is about simpler times—days spent in my beloved Fort Worth and the experiences that shaped who I am today. It’s soulful in the truest sense because it’s infused with my soul.”
The Texas native concluded with heartfelt anticipation: “I’m excited to share these stories about my home, my nostalgia, my upbringing—about where I’m from—with all of you. I hope this music brings you back to your roots and your own journey.”
While a headline tour for Leon hasn’t been announced yet, Bridges will be performing at Austin City Limits in Texas on the album’s release day and is also set to appear at Corona Capital in Mexico City on November 17th.
