Father John Misty Unveils New Album Mahashmashana with 2025 UK and Europe Tour Dates

Father John Misty has announced his highly anticipated new studio album, Mahashmashana, set to release on November 22nd via Sub Pop and Bella Union. Fans of the singer-songwriter are eagerly awaiting the upcoming record, which marks his first studio album in over two years. The album is self-produced, with Drew Erickson and Jonathan Wilson assisting on executive production.

The first glimpse of Mahashmashana comes with the release of its lead single, “Screamland.” This seven-minute musical epic features guitar work by Alan Spearhawk of Low, setting the tone for what promises to be an expansive and sonically adventurous album.

Despite containing only eight tracks, Mahashmashana clocks in at an impressive 50 minutes. The tracklist includes three previously released singles: “I Guess Time Makes Fools of Us All,” “She Cleans Up,” and “Josh Tillman and The Accidental Dose,” all of which are fan favorites. The album’s title, Mahashmashana, translates to “great cremation ground, all things put going thither,” hinting at the thematic depth fans can expect from the project.

Father John Misty UK and Europe Tour Dates 2025 Announced

In addition to the album, Father John Misty has revealed plans for an extensive tour across the UK and Europe to promote Mahashmashana. The tour kicks off on April 3, 2025, in Oslo, Norway, and will see stops in Stockholm, Copenhagen, Berlin, Paris, Brussels, and Utrecht.

The UK leg begins in Edinburgh on April 12, followed by performances in Manchester at the O2 Apollo, Brighton Dome, and a final show at London’s iconic Royal Albert Hall on April 15, 2025. Fans are eager to see the Mahashmashana tour as Father John Misty brings his unique blend of storytelling and musical artistry to the stage.

Mahashmashana: A New Chapter in Father John Misty’s Career

This latest album follows Father John Misty’s critically acclaimed 2022 release Chloë and the Next 20th Century, which became his highest-charting album, peaking at No. 2 on the UK charts. In addition, earlier this year, he dropped his greatest hits compilation Greatish Hits…, showcasing highlights from his illustrious career.

Father John Misty has been keeping fans on their toes, having also released Live At The Sunset Cultural Center in December 2023—a live album that was recorded just a week before its surprise debut on Bandcamp.

As anticipation builds for Mahashmashana, fans can expect Father John Misty’s signature blend of introspective lyrics, cinematic soundscapes, and thought-provoking themes. With a tour on the horizon and a powerful new album in hand, 2025 promises to be an exciting year for Father John Misty fans.
