Through the sale of his art, Johnny Depp earns over $3.5 million per day

On Thursday morning, Johnny Depp announced that at least 780 works of his art would be available online at Castle Fine Art. Johnny Depp sold a collection of prints he created of Hollywood and rock icons for over $3.5 million through a UK gallery chain on Thursday.
The 59-year-old “Pirates of the Caribbean” actor has spent millions on an acrimonious legal battle with his 36-year-old ex-wife, the actress Amber Heard. Thursday morning, Depp announced on Instagram that the prints would be available online at Castle Fine Art, which operates a network of UK galleries.  The art dealer published a photograph of Depp painting a portrait of the musician Bob Dylan.  It was stated that the “Friends & Heroes” collection of prints was “a tribute to those he has known well and those who have inspired him as a person.”

Depp was quoted by the gallery as saying: “My life is surrounded by my paintings, but I have kept them to myself and restricted myself. No one should ever impose limitations on themselves.”  The works depict Dylan, Elizabeth Taylor, Al Pacino, and Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones. The album received negative reviews from critics but entered the top 40 in the United Kingdom.  Later, the gallery chain tweeted that “Johnny Depp broke the internet” and that its website had crashed due to high demand.  Thursday evening, all the prints were marked as “out of stock.” There were 780 art pieces.

A set of four framed prints cost £14,950, while a single print cost £3,950.  Depp won $10 million in a defamation case against Heard in the United States in June, whereas Heard won $2 million in damages after filing a countersuit.  Heard is appealing the verdict of the jury trial, which was live-streamed to millions and featured lurid and personal details about the former couple.  Depp previously lost a libel case in London in 2020 against the British tabloid The Sun for labeling him a “wife-beater.”  In another creative endeavor, the actor and English rocker Jeff Beck released an album this month.
