THE BEAUTIFUL TENNESSEE CITY WHERE ELVIS PRESLEY RESIDED, WHERE HOUSE PRICES REACH £128,000

Elvis Presley, also known as the “King of Rock and Roll,” sold more than one billion records worldwide, making him one of the most recognizable musicians of all time. Where was his home? Before he passed away in 1977, Elvis Presley resided in a mansion that is now a museum in Tennessee. Graceland is the mansion Elvis lived in, located in Memphis on a 13.8-acre estate. Lisa, Elvis’s daughter, inherited the home after his death.

Graceland is located in the Whitehaven neighborhood at 3764 Elvis Presley Boulevard. It is approximately 10 miles south of Memphis’s central business district and less than four miles north of the Mississippi state line. Whitehaven is a residential neighborhood best known for Elvis Presley’s home. The estate consists of Graceland Mansion, museums displaying the singer’s automobiles and clothing, and a plaza with souvenir shops.

There are also restaurants and diners with an Elvis theme in the area. Graceland Mansion was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1991, making it the first site to be recognized for its rock and roll significance. It was designated a National Historic Landmark in 2006. It is also the most visited privately owned home in the United States, with over 500,000 visitors per year. Elvis and his family moved to Memphis when he was 13 years old, and he began his career as a musician in 1954.

He recorded at Sun Records with Sam Phillips as the producer. Elvis Presley purchased his home in 1957 after searching for a residence that would provide him with the privacy he required. Memphis, with a population of 633,104 as of the 2020 census, is the second-most populous city in Tennessee, behind Nashville. In addition to a major professional sports franchise, the city is home to the Memphis Pyramid, Sun Studio, and the Stax Museum of American Soul Music.

It is believed to have affordable housing and quality schools. Zillow, an American real estate agent, estimates that the average price of a home in Memphis is $153,894 (£128,410). Graceland was originally a 500-acre farm before Elvis bought it. Prior to moving to the city, the singer resided in Mississippi’s Tupelo. He was born in a two-room shack that is still open to the public. The Presley family attended the Assembly of God Church, which is also located on the grounds of the Mississippi Historic Site.

The church was relocated from its original location. Even though Elvis left Tupelo as a young teenager, he returned to perform a benefit for the city in 1956 and again the following year to raise funds for a youth center and park. Although the region may be best known as the birthplace of Elvis Presley, it also features a variety of other attractions. This includes the Natchez Trace Parkway and the Tupelo Buffalo Park & Zoo. On August 16, 1977, at age 42, the rock and roll singer passed away in his Memphis home.
