Phil Collen asserts that Def Leppard constantly enters a new phase, similar to Queen and the Rolling Stones

Phil Collen, the co-lead guitarist of Def Leppard, recently participated in an interview with Listen Next! As Queen and the Rolling Stones did, he revealed that the band’s musical career has continuously progressed through distinct phases from the beginning.  Since 1977, Def Leppard has never slowed down in their rock music career. Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, the band enjoyed considerable commercial success and continued to release new music. With albums such as ‘X’ and ‘Yeah!’, they have accomplished many significant tasks since the turn of the century. The band’s self-titled album was released in 2015, seven years after Songs from the Sparkle Lounge. The album debuted at number 10 on the Billboard 200 chart, becoming the band’s seventh top ten release. In 2016, they won the Classic Rock Roll of Honors Award for Album of the Year. In the years that followed, they toured with notable bands such as Journey.

Pete Willis and Steve Clark were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame alongside the current Def Leppard lineup in 2019. Three years later, on May 27, 2022, the band released its twelfth studio album, titled “Diamond Star Halos.” Then, on June 16, 2022, their long-awaited ‘The Stadium Tour’ with Motley Crüe, Poison, and Joan Jett & The Blackhearts began. Phil Collen revealed in a recent interview that the highlight of his ongoing tour is when he takes his guitar and stands in front of the crowd. According to him, this tour, their new album, and their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame are all excellent. Collen also stated that the band is entering a new phase in their musical career at each stage.

They achieve all of their goals one by one, allowing them to continuously level up. He noted that their method of ascending the ladder is comparable to that of Queen and the Rolling Stones. As he mentioned, it is a remarkable process for them because they desired it to be this way when they began their careers. Phil Collen commented on the band’s most recent tour: “The first eighteen performances were incredible. It was terrific. People are asking, “What is this tour like?” I tell them, ‘It’s the culmination of everything you want when you first pick up a guitar, going out on stage in a stadium and seeing it packed, and it’s just incredible to be able to do that.’ We’ve reached this point, and it’s so cool, especially considering everything else: the brand-new album, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame thing, everything. Both of our albums were certified diamond, and we’re simply entering a new phase as Queen and the Rolling Stones did. We’ve observed this, and it’s wonderful because it’s exactly what you intended when you began.”
