Nikki Sixx sat down to have a chat with A Rock Radio, and it is clear from his words that after having discussions with Vince Neil and Tommy Lee, Mötley Crüe is in no rush to retire as they are confident they will be around at least until 2031 when the band hits their 50th anniversary.

Although they had initially signaled a farewell tour, they decided to continue touring stadiums with Def Leppard, Joan Jett, and Poison. More recently, Sixx even tweeted that the band will continue to make music and rock on stage until one of them dies.

Nikki shared that they are enjoying their time together as a band. After getting to discuss Mötley Crüe’s future when they celebrated Lee’s 60th birthday last October in Mexico, they realized that they were having too much fun to call it quits, so the upcoming ‘The World Tour’ with Def Leppard and special guest Alice Cooper won’t be their last as they plan to make it to at least 50 years as a band in the industry.

Nikki Sixx’s words about having chats with Vince Neil and Tommy Lee about continuing the band read:

“New music always comes when the band is getting along. We get along so great right now. We’ve been having the best time. We spend time together. We go out to dinner.”

He added:

“Tommy [Lee] just had his 60th birthday party in Mexico and invited a small group of very good friends. And I was there, and a bunch of cool Tommy’s friends. All of our wives were there. John 5 came in. And it was just cool not to talk business, be in rehearsal, get on the phone, or talk about the photo shoot or the video. It was just hanging out, walking on the beach. And we had some sweet conversations.

Me and Tommy and Vince [Neil] had this conversation. I said, ‘What are you guys doing for the next eight years?’ And everybody’s laughing: ‘I don’t know.’ I said, ‘Why don’t we just keep going? Let’s just take it to 50.’ So this isn’t a final tour. What does that look like? I have no idea. I’m just telling you, you have the band saying, ‘We’re having a blast. Why stop?’”

So if you were curious about the future of Mötley Crüe and whether they were about to embark on their last tour, Nikki just solidified that they are booked and busy for the next eight years together as Mötley Crüe and beyond the 50-year mark in 2031; we’ll just have to wait and see.
