Vince Neil recently chatted with AXS TV, picking his musical heroes and detailing what his ultimate rock supergroup would look and sound like.
With the Mötley Crüe frontman’s upcoming show on AXS TV, ‘Banded: The Musical Competition,’ getting ready to be released, the host questioned Neil about the series and what it was like to be in a successful band. Then, she decided to play a little game with the singer, asking him to form his dream lineup and pick one rocker among the three musicians she would list.
So, when the host started the quiz by listing the drummers, naming Led Zeppelin’s John Bonham, Rush’s Neil Peart, and Who’s Keith Moon for Vince to choose from, it seemed quite easy for the singer to pick as he answered quickly and picked Moon as his dream drummer.
Neil’s pick for the drummer followed:
“[I’ll choose] Keith Moon; he’s crazy. [Do you like a crazy drummer?] Yeah, absolutely, that’s why we have Tommy [Lee].”
The next question was about choosing a guitarist for Vince’s dream band, as the host asked who the rocker would pick among the possible candidates of Jimi Hendrix, Eddie Van Halen, and Ozzy Osbourne’s guitarist Randy Rhoads. The Mötley Crüe singer, again, didn’t think much when picking Rhoads.
Vince’s words on choosing a guitarist:
“I gotta say, Randy Rhoads; he was amazing… I mean, so are the other guys, [Hendrix and Van Halen], but I’ll say, Randy Rhoads.”
The frontman’s final pick came when he had to choose a bass player from the name pool, which consisted of Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Flea, Paul McCartney, and Motörhead’s Lemmy Kilmister. Vince, once again, simply went with Sir McCartney while stating why he would love to team up with the Beatle.
The singer’s on why he would choose McCartney rather than Flea or Lemmy:
“I gotta say, Paul. I mean, Paul’s a good bass player, he’s a good guy, he’s a funny guy.”
Well, with the frontman’s picks for a rock supergroup including some of the most well-respected figures in the industry, it feels that his act makes up a fun combination where we have four rock heroes with different personalities, so things might’ve been a bit chaotic if this was an actual band.
