Guns N’ Roses Release the Studio Version of Their New Song “Absurd”

Guns N’ Roses have released an official studio version of their new song “Absurd,” which they debuted live at Fenway Park in Boston earlier this week. “Absurd” is the first new material from the band since 2008’s Chinese Democracy album and the first new studio recording to feature guitarist Slash and bassist Duff McKagan, who rejoined the band in 2016, since 1994’s “Sympathy for the Devil” cover.

Parts of the song were taken from “Silkworms,” an abandoned song from the Chinese Democracy sessions from 2001. However, “Absurd” ditched the electronic embellishments and largely retained the intro riff and verse, while adding guitar solos and lead breaks in their place. Guns N’ Roses performed “Absurd” last night (August 5) at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.  On these dates, Guns N’ Roses will be joined by special guest Mammoth WVH (Wolfgang Van Halen’s band) on their ongoing summer and fall tour.
