Griffin Taylor, the vocalist for Vended, discussed his musical talent in a recent interview with Kerrang and stated that it has nothing to do with his father, Corey Taylor. Despite the fact that they began their musical journey only a few years ago, Vended is on the path to success. Vocalist Griffin Taylor and lead guitarist Cole Espeland founded the rock band in 2018. However, the band is best known for Griffin Taylor and Simon Crahan, the sons of Slipknot’s Corey Taylor and Shawn Crahan, respectively. Their debut single, ‘Burn My Misery,’ demonstrated the band’s contribution to the metal genre.
One of their distinctive decisions was to wear stage makeup. Black Sabbath, Alice in Chains, Iron Maiden, and of course Slipknot have influenced them. Therefore, the use of makeup is not surprising for their on-stage personas. Currently on stage are the personas ‘Skull Face,’ ‘The Clown,’ ‘The Jaguar,’ ‘The Fox,’ and ‘The Wolf.’ Griffin Taylor disclosed that he first learned to scream when his father was not present. He comprehends the notion that he and Simon Crahan inherited all of their musical abilities from their fathers. Nonetheless, he argues that they had to independently find their voice. Griffin added that their talents had nothing to do with being the sons of Slipknot’s Corey Taylor and Shawn Crahan or inheriting their genes or singing skills. Griffin Taylor’s assessment of his musical ability:
“I began learning how to scream in middle school, while my father was in Las Vegas. I understand when people say, “Oh, their musical talents were all inherited from their fathers.” I understand where people come from due to genes or the way a voice or reflexes are constructed, but we did not inherit our parents’ musical talent. We discovered it on our own.” Recently, Vended released their latest single, ‘Ded To Me.’ In July, the band embarked on a European tour that began in Romania. Below, you can listen to “Ded To Me.”
