“Democrats React After Judge Linked to Major Money Laundering Scandal”

Democrats are facing a wave of criticism after Fort Bend County Judge KP George was indicted on serious money laundering charges. The news has caused quite a stir, especially within his own party, which is now calling for his resignation.

Judge George turned himself in on April 4, 2025, and was later released on a $10,000 bond. He’s facing two third-degree felony charges, accused of using questionable financial practices to support his campaign. Despite the charges, George insists he’s innocent.

“I believe the truth will prevail,” Judge George said in a public statement. “Until then, I’ll continue serving the people of Fort Bend County with dedication.” He also described the case as a politically motivated attack, calling it a “witch hunt.”

Still, some local Democratic leaders aren’t standing by him. Fred Taylor, the Fort Bend County Democratic Chair, voiced his disappointment. “Judge George has let us down,” Taylor said. “His actions show poor judgment, and I believe he should resign.”

Taylor also criticized George’s public response. “Instead of taking responsibility, he’s painting himself as the victim. That’s part of the problem.”

Prosecutors from the Fort Bend County District Attorney’s Office pushed back against George’s claims of political targeting. They described the investigation as thorough and said the evidence supports the felony indictments.

As the case unfolds, questions are swirling about leadership, accountability, and trust—both within the party and among local voters. With emotions running high and the 2025 elections on the horizon, the fallout from this scandal is likely far from over.
