Dave Mustaine Reveals Which Of Megadeth’s New Songs Is Their Quickest To Date

If you’ve ever felt the need for speed, Megadeth has always been there for you. However, nearly 40 years into their career, Dave Mustaine reveals what he believes to be Megadeth’s fastest song ever recorded. This characterization applies to the recently released song “Night Stalkers.” In an interview with Guitar World, the leader of Megadeth stated, “I believe that is the fastest song we’ve ever recorded at 190 beats per minute, and it took a while to get up to that speed.” He then continued, “Night Stalker is a top-secret military helicopter division, so the song required that frenetic tempo. They fly missions at night, and nobody knows what they will do until it actually occurs. Ice-T performs excellent [acting] roles in the song.”

Late last month, the song was released, and during an interview with Guitar World, Mustaine revealed why Ice-T was the ideal collaborator for the track. He explained, “I’ve been friends with Ice-T for a long time.” “When we first met in Los Angeles, he told me he was an Army Ranger, so it was only natural for me to hire him because I wanted a great musician with military credibility. I asked him to perform a spoken role, and he provided me with so many excellent options that it was difficult to choose which one to use.” You can read the full interview in the current issue of Guitar World. The Sick, The Dying… and the Dead! is scheduled for a September 2 release. Here, pre-orders are available. In the coming weeks, Megadeth will be touring with Five Finger Death Punch, The Hu, and Fire From the Gods. Purchase tickets here. Now rock out to “Night Stalkers,” which features a frenetic tempo.
