Nomi Abadi’s Allegations and Settlement
In July 2023, Los Angeles composer Nomi Abadi came forward with claims that Elfman exposed himself and sexually harassed her in 2016. Reports revealed that they entered into a $830,000 settlement and non-disclosure agreement (NDA) in 2017. However, Abadi filed a breach of contract lawsuit last year, asserting that Elfman missed two $42,500 payments.
The matter went into arbitration at the end of 2023. By July 2024, Abadi’s lawyers stated that arbitration had not yet been scheduled despite attempts to collaborate with Elfman’s legal team.
Defamation Lawsuit Details
On July 10, 2024, Nomi Abadi sued Danny Elfman for defamation over statements he made to Rolling Stone. The suit alleges Elfman defamed Abadi by denying the allegations and falsely portraying her as “a failed temptress who lied about him for reasons of revenge and greed.”
The defamation claims include accusations that Elfman depicted Abadi as someone who initiated nude photography and coerced her into inappropriate actions. The suit also describes an incident involving a martini glass filled with what Abadi alleges was semen, which Elfman claimed was a skincare product.
Impact on Abadi’s Reputation
The suit maintains that Elfman’s statements have caused significant harm to Abadi’s professional and personal reputation. “As a result of Elfman and his representatives’ defamations, Nomi has suffered humiliation, both personally and professionally, within their shared composing industry and online,” the suit asserts.
Abadi is seeking unspecified punitive and monetary damages from Elfman.
Previous Allegations Against Elfman
In October of the previous year, a second woman sued Danny Elfman for sexual assault, gender violence, intentional infliction of emotional distress, sexual harassment, and negligence.
