CHAD GRAY On The PANTERA Reunion: “VINNIE PAUL Was Never Behind It”

The Pantera celebration shows have been a hit among fans, who have expressed interest in a Pantera live album. Currently, the lineup includes Phil Anselmo, Rex Brown, Charlie Benante from Anthrax, and Zakk Wylde from Black Label Society. This configuration was approved by the estates of Vinnie Paul and “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott, as reported by Billboard.

However, Chad Gray, vocalist of Mudvayne and Hellyeah, has doubts about Vinnie Paul’s enthusiasm for a Pantera reunion. In an interview with The Jesse Lee Show, Gray mentioned that Vinnie Paul wasn’t keen on the idea of a Pantera reunion while he was alive.

Gray later clarified that he has immense respect for Zakk Wylde and Charlie Benante’s performances but emphasized Vinnie Paul’s stance. He recalled numerous interviews where Vinnie Paul adamantly stated that Pantera was over because his brother was no longer alive.

Despite understanding the fans’ excitement about reliving Pantera’s music, Gray finds it challenging to see Pantera without the Abbott brothers. He believes it’s crucial to honor and respect Vinnie Paul and Dimebag Darrell’s legacy, acknowledging their significant contributions to music.
