Our song “The Alien” has just won the Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance. To all the Dream Theater fans in the world, you guys are awesome, and we adore you. This honor is yours!”
In the video attached to his post, Petrucci stated:m”Wow, this is completely absurd. I would like to thank the Recording Academy and everyone who voted for us on behalf of the entire band. They used to tell us that our songs are excessively lengthy, that we use strange time signatures, or that we have too many guitar solos. This song is in 17/8 time, so try tapping your foot to it. We just won a Grammy, so I’m glad we didn’t listen to the critics.” You can view John Petrucci’s acceptance speech for his Grammy below.
