HOW KANE ROBERTS REVITALIZED ALICE COOPER

In an interview with VW Music, guitarist Kane Roberts discussed Alice Cooper’s evolution, his contribution to his live performances, and his overall sound. During his time with Alice Cooper, Kane Roberts likely achieved his greatest musical accomplishment. He contributed to the creation and recording of two albums. He played lead guitar and co-wrote songs for Cooper’s famous albums ‘Constrictor’ and ‘Raise Your Fist and Yell’ Roberts decided to leave Cooper in 1988 and began working on his solo projects, despite the fact that he had found success with the band. Recently, shortly after Roberts and Cooper collaborated on Cooper’s most recent album, ‘The New Normal,’ the legendary musician asked him to replace Nita Strauss. Despite being a Strauss fan, it was difficult to turn down the opportunity to perform with Cooper again after so many years.

Roberts stated, in response to a question about his early days working with Cooper, that he viewed that time as transformative. Even though the tours were already successful, he wanted to make a few adjustments to improve the performances. Roberts discussed the second tour and asserted that it had a different momentum, one that was extremely aggressive and violent. Ultimately, he stated that his influence on Alice Cooper’s current sound is still evident. Robert Kane’s reflections on his contribution to Alice Cooper:

“Of course, in my life, they were crucial. I believe that he views Alice as one of those men who absorbs creativity. It is possible that something unrelated to music could occur during his day and influence his performance in some way. So, he’s one of those guys, and I believe we’ve gotten used to that; the tours were incredibly successful. Prior to my arrival in the mid-1980s, recent tours had been a little rough in certain areas. So, when I joined, I wanted to shake things up and try new things so that we could present the world with a revitalized Alice Cooper. And I believe once that occurred, along with the momentum of what we were doing with our sound and how we viewed our live performances, everything took off.

I mean, the second tour almost had a culture of violence with what we did on stage, and I believe that aggressive momentum influenced everything Alice did thereafter. It influenced a great deal of things; not entirely, and not one hundred percent, but you’re right, you can still see traces of what we did. I’d compare it to Alice’s evolution, if you catch my drift. I’m pleased to have had some influence on that, but Alice always takes the bull by the horns and runs wherever he wants to go. The most recent album by Alice Cooper, titled “Detroit Stories,” was released in February 2021. Alice Cooper and Kane Roberts will launch their ‘Detroit Muscle Tour’ on September 7, 2022 in Bethlehem and end on October 8, 2022 in Las Vegas in order to promote their new album.
